Deloitte has done a great move to have the DTC. It allows participants in DTC to have more interactions between themselves, to know each other better.

A very great exposure to my team. Something unexpected because we managed to beat our university seniors (top students) to go for the final round. It was a surprise for us as we did not learn much about advanced taxation when we took up the challenge. We just took the subject during this current semester. Knowing nothing much about all the tax incentives and blindly just went through the book in 1 day, we managed to go for final round. Thank you for organizing such event. Keep up the good work!

It is truly wonderful to have one of the big four to organize such an event that introduces an area of work that is not of accounting. I already knew that taxation is a very important part in a business, and I was interested to pursue a career in taxation after taking my 1st taxation subject during my Diploma in Tunku Abdul Rahman College. And since then, I seriously considered a career in taxation after taking my 2nd taxation subject here in UNITEN, and after DTC08, I truly fell in love with taxation, as I consider it a very challenging job. Thank you DTC08.

DTC08 is very much useful for undergraduate business students especially for accounting students. However, personally due to lack of time and wrong timing, UNITEN student were not able to perform at our best due to accumulate assignments and tests. However, I personally pleased and honoured when DTC rep willing to come all the way from KL to Pahang to give talk regarding DTC. Hopefully in future this will continue and it will be much better if in future Deloitte can organize those tests on beginning of our semester so we can perform and involve at our best.

As the development of Malaysian Taxation in the late 90's, taxation has become an interesting area rather than just a subject/ course for all undergraduates. However, most of the private UniColleges in Malaysia do not offer Malaysian Taxation but Aussie/Uk taxation. Thus, it is important as to have a 1~2 days workshop before the competition for all partcipants. Although I haven't registered to any taxation subject (not even my undergraduate - Malaysian Taxation) but through internship programme from other firms I enjoy it and planning to move forward as a tax consultant for transfer pricing and tax investigation/audit

DTC08 makes me realised that there is a lot of things other than computation in taxation that we need to learn like writing a letter to IRB and the importance of good English.

The event was essential in helping the firm to get more familiar among students. This type of competition help students to recognise the firm's strength ( in organising such a nationwide competition). For the team category, I expect that team spirit is taken as one of the important criteria.

Firstly I really appreciate what Deloitte Tax Challenge has given me. A very good opportunity for us to learn. (It made me enhance my desire to pursue my career in taxation and in Deloitte.) Perhaps this is the first time Deloitte organise this event. So this event may have some minor problems during the running of the program.

Overall, I hope this event can be continued in next year. This event indirectly created a good relationship between the students and Deloitte (between participants also as we got contacted with each others after this event). Lastly, just to say thanks to all the organizing committee (especially Ms. Fiona) for your efforts and being patient in listening our problems.

DTC 08 was so well planned and organized. I would say that this event is a great success. Thank to Deloitte for organizing this event. Throughout this event, I get invaluable knowledge and experience from the presentation workshop conducted and from the exposure to the business case study. Moreover, I really learnt a lot throughout this challenge. Furthermore, it also gives me an opportunity to get to know new friends. Thank you so much to all the organizing committee.

I am very happy for my team to be the 1st runner-up, since most of us did not know each other when we first formed the group. To think that we would eventually go on and get a 2nd placing was not we initially expected.

Perhaps Deloitte can invite all branch offices throughout Malaysia to organising the competition together, so that DTC will become a more nationwide competition.

For DTC 09, the question given was so practical and requires thinking skills rather than mainly relying on the knowledge.

It was a challenge for us to analyse the question, complete the report and slide within 3 hours, but, honestly, participants might not have sufficient time to prepare for the presentation. For the gala dinner, for our table, we did enjoy and communicate well with sunway team. For us, we didn't expect to get the champion. We just do our best and fight to the end even though we have really exhausted due to the 3 days continuously competition. This is a very special experience that i ever had. Thanks for DTC... Thanks for Fiona and our mentor (Ai Ling).

I felt really great about winning as part of a team (TaxPro) and also as an individual. It was definitely out of expectations since me and my team were not exposed to advance tax areas yet. I think the DTC09 is a great event and it definitely open my eyes to the field of tax as something much more deeper than simple tax computations or tax returns that are completed every year. It has been a great event and well organized. Keep up the good work!

  1. It's really exciting and happy to be one of the winning team. As one of the winning teams in the final round, it has motivated me to work harder in tax area in order to consider tax area as one of my career in my future after graduate from my existing study.
  2. DTC09 was a wonderful event and it was held very successfully. Hopefully Deloitte can continue in holding DTC every year.

I really appreciate the chance given to participate in DTC09 and i learned a lot from it. I was happy when the result was announced as I never expected to be the champion of team category and the first runner up of individual category.

DTC is an important competition in my university life. The questions were challenging and the competition has actually inspired me to gain more knowledge in taxation. I didn't have the chance to get into the final round last year. However, I love challenges, that's why I chose to participate in DTC09 and it is definitely a happy memory for me.

Since I will be graduating next year, so i will not have the chance to participate again. But I will encourage my juniors to take up this challenge next year!

Thank you to all the organizing committees of DTC09 for your effort in making this event a success!

As a winner I really feel happy and proud of having a team that is so creative and good in their presentation skills and of course, their knowledge in tax areas and other areas as well. Without them, it is impossible for me to emerge as a winner in this competition. This is really not like our ordinary examination that may be passed by solely studying text books by heart. A lot of thinking and additional knowledge are needed. This challenge really exposed me to the depth and width of what really tax cases are and I am sure that I will gain more from this. Thanks for organizing such a good competition. Tha Gala Dinner is really great, thanks for all your contributions, it is really a great.

I feel very excited for winning the champion of Deloitte Tax Challenge for individual category. Honestly, I never expected that. The first reason for me to participate in this competition is for the spirit of participation and for the exposure of this kind of contest. This was the first interschool contest that I have entered into throughout my college life here.

Then, surprisingly, I managed to enter into second stage and eventually the final stage. We, together with other finalists from TARC, tried very hard to study advanced tax in the short period of time before the competition day as we have only learnt about the basic taxation. I have tried my best to use the limited time to do whatever I could do. Our lecturers have helped us a lot in the preparation for the final stage. I am very thankful to them.

On the final stage, we were given a very challenging business case study and we were required to complete one report and presentation in two and a half hours. It was very challenging to complete all the tasks in the limited time and hence I was very satisfied when I have completed all the tasks. It's like the satisfaction of completing an important mission. I also enjoyed my 15 minutes presentation to the directors of Deloitte regarding the case. It's my very great pleasure to have this opportunity to share my thoughts with them. At that point of time, what came to my mind is that I have tried my very best in this competition and hence I had no regrets.

At the Gala Dinner, I was announced to be the champion. I was very happy to win the RM 2000 cash award, the certificate and the trophy. I could feel the greatest sense of pride I have ever had in my life.

I would keep the cash reward for my study. The RM 2000 would be very useful for me as I came from an average family. It could help to pay my ACCA examination fees in the future.

Overall, I think DTC09 is very well organised. What I felt during this competition is that people in Deloitte are very friendly. The person in charge, Ms Fiona, Ronnie, the Managing Director and the staff there are all very friendly. The people and environment there is good. The staff has offered their greatest help to all the contestants. Thank you.

Here, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Deloitte for organizing such a good event. This competition has helped me to develop my tax knowledge and presentation skills. This competition too encourages the sharing of opinions and interactions between students from different colleges and universities.

Here, I would like to thank all my friends who supported me all the way. They always encouraged me and gave very good advice to me. Your support and encouragement means a lot to me. Thank you guys =)
