Participants are to read the Official Rules in their entirety before participating in the Deloitte Tax Challenge. By registering, teams unconditionally agree to all the terms and conditions of these Official Rules. Deloitte’s decision with regard to the Deloitte Tax Challenge is deemed final and binding in all aspects.

Official rules - Team category

1. Deloitte Tax Challenge

Deloitte Tax Challenge (hereinafter referred to as the "Challenge") is an inter-varsity competition among undergraduates of universities in Malaysia. The competition is organized by Deloitte KassimChan Tax Services Sdn Bhd (hereinafter referred to as "Deloitte"), an entity within Deloitte Malaysia. Deloitte Malaysia provides professional services with integrated capabilities across audit, tax, consulting and financial advisory.
The aim of the Challenge is to present tax as a career option for future graduates and to enhance their leadership skills. This contest also aims to promote presentation and English skills in a simulated business environment.

1a. Eligibility

The Challenge is open to full-time students of participating universities, university colleges and colleges (public and private) interested in exploring tax and who are interested in enhancing their leadership, presentation and English abilities.
Master's degree programme and PhD students are not eligible to participate in this competition.
Deloitte reserves the right to verify the registration information submitted at any time during the Challenge. Further, Deloitte has the right to request copies of ID and/or student cards from the colleges or university. Deloitte reserves the right to refuse participation or to disqualify at any time during the Challenge, students (and their teams) who has submitted incorrect or misleading information and these individuals will have no recourse against the disqualification.

1b. Composition of teams

Each team will be made up of four full-time students who are enrolled in an undergraduate related degree programme of a university, university college, or college. All members of the team must have a valid email address. No modification in team composition is permitted. In the event that the number of players in a Team is reduced to less than 4 members, that Team shall immediately be automatically disqualified unless Deloitte otherwise permits due to hospitalization or severe accident

1c. Registration

Registration for the Challenge - Team category opens on 13 July 2011 and closes on 6 September 2011. Further, participating universities should also confirm their participation by returning the invitation letters sent to them duly signed where provided so as to reach the Challenge's committee by 29 August 2011.

1d. Stages

The Challenge will consist of 2 stages:-
Stage 1: Preliminary
Stage 2: Finals

1d(i). Stage 1: Preliminary – 13 September 2011

1d(ii). Stage 2: Finals - 29 September 2011

All presentation slides must be passed to the Organising Committee by the end of the 3-hour session. All presentation materials may not be changed after being submitted.

Professional presentation trainers by courtesy of UCSI Professional Academy, will be present to assist participants hone their presentation skills for the Finals.

All presentations are required in English.

Each team will be allocated a maximum of 20 minutes to make their presentation to the "board of directors" made up of members of Deloitte's tax directors and managers.

General rules and regulations

i. Registration form

The online official registration form contains an invitation to accept the official rules of the competition. Those who do not accept the official rules will not be accepted for participation.

ii. Personal data

Deloitte undertakes not to provide the registration information submitted to any third party and will only use the data within Deloitte Malaysia. Individual participants have the right to consult and verify their personal information with Deloitte.

iii. Internships

Participants may be offered an opportunity for internship at Deloitte for a period of 3 to 6 months to enable them to experience firsthand the Deloitte culture.

iv. Compliance and behaviour

Deloitte may, at its sole discretion, disqualify any participant from the Challenge if he/she infringes the Official Rules, or acts in any disruptive or unsporting manner or tries to damage, destroy or disrupt the Challenge or anything connected therewith and retains the right to prosecute in accordance with the laws of Malaysia.

v. Reproduction

Deloitte may publish in any media, results of the Challenge. Participants agree that Deloitte has the right to globally use and publish his or her name, picture, answers, reports and presentations for advertising and promotional purposes without consideration and on the world wide web without limitation of time.

vi. Disputes

Any dispute, question and/or claim relating to the competition up to and including the Finals must be received by Deloitte within 3 days of the date when winners are announced.

The dispute, question and/or claim must be presented in writing in English to the Challenge's committee by courier with acknowledgement of receipt at the following address:

Upon receipt, the Challenge's committee will respond within 4 days of receipt. Any decision made by the committee shall be binding and final and no participant shall have any further right of recourse or appeal.

vii. Miscellaneous

Deloitte reserves the right to shorten, alter, or cancel the Challenge without notification and without registrants being entitled to any compensation.

The Challenge, its concept, content, look-and-feel, and all graphic elements and organisation remain the sole property of Deloitte.

Deloitte shall not be responsible for any errors made in the contest entries, malfunction of the website, incorrect email address, or connectivity problems related to the Challenge. Participants are not entitled to reimbursement for any materials or resources used for the preparation for the Challenge or other expenses unless pre-authorised by the Challenge's committee
